TAGSI–FESI Symposium 2026
Holiday Inn (Central), Manchester, UK
November 18, 2026
Celebrating 50 years of R6 and looking to the future of nuclear codes, standards and procedures
Initial announcement
TAGSI (UK Technical Advisory Group on the Structural Integrity of high integrity plant) and FESI (UK Forum for Engineering Structural Integrity) are pleased to announce an upcoming symposium on ‘Celebrating 50 years of R6 and looking to the future of nuclear codes, standards and procedures’, to be held on November 18, 2026 in Holiday Inn (Central) Manchester, UK.
Remarkably, the R6 defect assessment procedure was first drafted 50 years ago. Since then, it has undergone revisions to expand the scope and ease of application and to maintain the approaches up-to-date with technical developments. This Symposium celebrates the 50 years of R6 through talks from leading experts in the nuclear industry who describe the history of R6, its use and recent developments. Developments in other codes and standards are also described and the symposium also looks to the future to suggest how codes and standards will develop.
