TAGSI–FESI Symposium 2022

TAGSI (UK Technical Advisory Group on the Structural Integrity of high integrity plant) and FESI (UK Forum for Engineering Structural Integrity) are pleased to announce the date of their jointly-held symposium on ‘Structural Integrity Developments for a Competitive UK Nuclear Industry’ that had been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. the event is now taking place on May 5, 2022 at the Holiday Inn (Central), 25 Aytoun Street, Manchester M1 3AE, UK.
As with previous, similar events over recent years, the symposium will provide talks from leading experts in the nuclear industry. The symposium aims to provide an overview of how structural integrity developments can be used to help ensure a safe, yet competitive nuclear industry.
The symposium will be separated into four sections headed “Context”, “Present and Future Plant Challenges”, “Developments and Opportunities”, and “Optimising Structural Integrity Assessments”, with speakers Bob Ainsworth (University of Manchester and TAGSI), Peter Flewitt (University of Bristol and FESI Director), Andy Holt (ONR), George Smith (University of Oxford), Neil Bristow (EDF–NNB), Chris Bell (Rolls Royce SMR), John Stairmand (Jacobs), Bo Chen (University of Leicester), Peter James (Jacobs and TAGSI), Andrew Wood and Mike Martin (both Rolls-Royce), and Steve Garwood (TAGSI).

Jacobs would like to extend an invitation to visit the Jacobs experimental facilities in Birchwood, Warrington on Wednesday, May 4, 2:30 pm to all of the participants of the 2022 TAGSI-FESI Symposium. The experimental facilities include the High Temperature Facility and the light water reactor simulated environmental facilities for mechanical evaluation. If you would be interested in joining this visit, then please email Andrew Wisbey as soon as possible, so that numbers can be assessed and the tour planned. We will be able to assist those subsequently requiring to travel to the symposium hotel in Manchester.
