Structural Integrity in the Nuclear World

TWI Conference Centre, Granta Park, Cambridge, UK

September 12, 2023

This free TWI Structural Integrity Group (TG6) event, organised in association with FESI, is being held on September 12, 2023 (12.00 pm–5.00 pm) and forms part of a three-day nuclear industry focus event at TWI Cambridge.

Nuclear is now recognised as an attractive option for climate friendly energy and we expect to see a rapid expansion in its adoption both in the UK and around the world. As well as broadening the range of technology used from the current AGRs and PWRs that are in place, there is a wide range of reactor designs at various stages for development especially for the relatively versatile SMRs and AMRs.

This will inevitably lead to an increase in the processing and storage of nuclear waste. The risks associated with this – actual and perceived – need to be addressed and for this reason it is critical that Structural Integrity Assessments keep pace with upcoming changes in the industry. This in person event is intended to inform about its current status and promote a discussion about the way forward in view of the expected growth.
