Workshop
Structural Integrity Enhancement for Wind Energy Applications: Challenges and Opportunities for Coatings and Surface Engineering
Coventry University, Coventry, UK
November 26, 2024
This workshop is FREE to attend
Wind energy has become the leading source of renewable electricity for many nations, including the UK. Future generations of wind turbines will be installed in increasingly remote offshore locations, and will also require longer operating lifetimes to reduce whole-life costs.
Coatings and surface engineering will play a major role in ensuring and enhancing component lifetimes in wind turbine applications, particularly in preventing corrosion in pilings and exposed structure that are susceptible to abrasive silt, saltwater, and wave action.
This one-day workshop will present the state-of-the-art for current systems, and research for future applications. It will provide an overview of the main methods of coating characterisation, for corrosion and residual stress.
Who should attend?
This workshop will be of interest to engineers, chemists, scientists, supply chain and plant designers who wish to learn about developments in coatings and surface engineering, particularly in the context of wind energy applications.
This workshop is supported by the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Lloyd’s Register Foundation, and the Thai Programme Management Unit for Competitiveness through the Transforming Systems through Partnership Scheme of EngineeringX.
