Over the past few months, there has been a fairly significant restructuring of FESI, including the establishment of a Student and Early Career (SEC) Council.
Following the first SEC meeting, held on May 14, 2021, we can announce that the vacancy in the role of FESI Social Media Officer is now resolved with the appointment of Yifeng Zhang, a PhD candidate in the Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) group at Imperial College London. Yifeng’s research at Imperial is focussed on ultrasound based structural health monitoring (SHM) techniques, with a particular emphasis on temperature sensing and compensation.
Prior to joining the NDE group, Yifeng obtained a First Class Honours degree in the Department of Aeronautics at Imperial College London in 2018 and has industrial experience with both Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace and Jaguar Land Rover.
As FESI Social Media Officer, Yifeng will ensure that our members and followers are kept fully informed of all institutional announcements, including upcoming FESI events and the latest releases from the FESI Publishing bookstore, as well as providing up-to-the-minute intelligence and insights from the wider structural integrity community.
This is a critical appointment for FESI, one that underlines our continued commitment to facilitate the exchange and enhancement of knowledge of engineering structural integrity. We hope that you will support and encourage Yifeng in his new role.
