On Friday, May 14, 2021, the first FESI Student and Early Career Council (SEC) meeting was held.
The SEC Council has been established as the next generation’s voice to support FESI in influencing and disseminating the latest advances in structural integrity, promoting the exchange of relevant technologies and knowledge between industrial, regulatory, academic, and professional organisations, encouraging best practice in structural integrity and providing a practical resource for anyone working in this field. The SEC Council is linked to the FESI main Council.
The objectives of the SEC Council include:
- Providing an opportunity for student and early career workers to discuss current and future structural integrity challenges and issues across the various industrial sectors by engaging where appropriate with senior technical experts within FESI and elsewhere.
- Championing an equality, diversity and inclusion agenda to help create an inspiring and inclusive environment for the engineering structural integrity sector that better reflects society.
- Acting as ambassadors for the engineering structural integrity community, supporting, developing and sharing the positive messaging about its importance to a wide range of structural integrity sectors, particularly with regard to safety and reliability aspects.
- Securing links and work with wider industry networks and related groups to share best practice (including cross-sectoral) and help drive the success of strategic initiatives
